When years of teaching college led to burnout, Dr. Ann Clark decided to find a new career. After venturing away from the helping profession she had trained for, she quickly realized she had to find a way to help people while satisfying her "entrepreneurial spirit" she always knew she had.

In the summer of 1983, from the desk in her La Jolla, California condo, Ann Clark Associates was founded. Dr. Clark has led the organization through its successful transformation from a regional concern to ACI, a worldwide specialty benefits corporation. ACI provides services to public and private employers such as Bosch, Mercury Insurance, and San Diego's own Luce Forward Hamilton and Scripps. ACI has enjoyed organic growth year over year, rather than growth through acquisition. "It's all about the relationship we have with our clients that makes the difference", says Dr. Clark during a recent interview.

In 2002, ACI made the Top Ten list of EAP's in the nation and achieved that status again in 2004 and 2005 (Business Insurance Magazine). Dr. Clark was named one of San Diego's "Women Who Mean Business" and received the Bravo Award for Excellence by the National Association of Women Business Owners in 2004.

ACI is known for it's high touch, flexible, hands-on services which accounts for the 98% client retention rate with client satisfaction scores rating ACI with "exceeds expectations" time after time.
